What is Biblical Counseling?
We know the Bible isn’t simply a how-to book or a recipe book for happiness. We believe that the Bible ultimately points us to a person and a relationship – Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. We believe that real change comes when people learn to see themselves and their problems in the context of a living, vital relationship with Christ.
This does not mean that you must be a Christian to benefit from our counseling. Although we believe that deep and lasting change is brought about only by God himself, the Bible is never brought to bear in an artificial or heavy-handed way.

Meet sam deford
Sam is a pastor, biblical counselor, and spiritual formation leader bringing nearly two decades of ministry experience to Resolute BC. He earned a degree in Biblical Studies from Southwestern AG University and is currently completing his Master of Divinity at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Sam was one of three founding pastors of a church plant launched in 2010 in McKinney TX, where he spent over twelve years helping shape the church’s vision, spiritual formation, and discipleship culture.
Throughout his years in pastoral ministry, Sam encountered the deep and complex needs of individuals navigating spiritual, emotional, and relational challenges. This experience led him to recognize the vital role of biblical counseling in the life of the Church—a form of soul care that speaks to the whole person. Out of this conviction, Sam has stepped more intentionally into the counseling arm of pastoral ministry, combining theology, spiritual formation, and emotional health into his work with individuals and families.
Sam lives in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with his wife, Audrey, and their five young children—Flora, Freya, Winifred, Whitaker, and Ira. In the middle of raising kids, Sam continues to pastor, counsel, write songs and sermons, and invest deeply in the life of the local church. Sam speaks with a pastoral heart and a deep desire to see men formed in the love of Christ.
Meet James Brown
James has been ministering as a licensed and ordained Pastor for nearly 25 years, serving in Texas, Michigan, and Florida. Throughout his ministry, he has held a wide range of roles—from Kids and Youth Ministry to Worship and Executive Leadership, and many areas in between.

Over the years, James has developed a strong passion for counseling, mentorship, godly leadership, organizational development, and executive coaching. Beyond leading worship and preaching from the pulpit, he has recognized the importance of personally walking with people through life’s challenges—helping them move from darkness into light and into the abundant life promised by God through the deep work of the soul.
